NDP have no plan to pay for spending promises........?

Seventy spending commitments would make balanced budgets impossible. It is a question of accountability!

HALIFAX, NS - The Progressive Conservative Party released a document today outlining almost seventy NDP spending commitments costing over $2.2 billion dollars.

“The NDP have been making multi-million dollar promises on an almost bi-weekly basis since the last election,” said Deputy Premier Angus MacIsaac. “They will be unable to balance a budget in Nova Scotia without breaking the promises they have made.”

The cost analysis entitled “The NDP: A risk you can’t afford” was developed through months of research on spending commitments made by the NDP in the House of Assembly and in the media.

“We knew that if we added all of the commitments together the impact would be substantial,” said MacIsaac, adding that most promises made by the NDP were for new program spending. “They will either have to break their promises or increase expenditures beyond what our economy can support.”

MacIsaac stated that Nova Scotians are looking for a government they can trust to lead Nova Scotia through uncertain economic conditions.

“The PC Party is the only party with a proven record on the economy. The NDP is a risk Nova Scotians can’t afford.”

The 65 page book indicates that it does not pass judgment on the public policy value of the promises made by the NDP, but simply calculates the cumulative totals of the new spending commitments over a four year period.

The Progressive Conservative Party has also created a website to share the information with the public at www.riskyndp.ca
