New High School Announced

A $34,200,000, 130,000 sq. ft. high school was announced Tuesday by Minister Len Goucher and Minister Barry Barnett.

"This announcement is great for our residents and high school students. It shows the committment of our Progressive Conservative government to education and those growth areas in need", commented Minister Len Goucher. "This replacement will also provide incredible options to the Halifax Regional School Board to address the pressing issues of Bedford Junior High School".

The government's construction and renovation program, worth $307,000,000 over seven years, will invest $145,300,000 in new schools and $162,000,000 in renovations and additions to existing schools.

Tne site selection process should start in the next few months with construction to move forward in 2010, and a completion date of 2012.
